What is Professional Life Coaching?
The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Coaching honors the client as the expert in his/her life and work and believes that every client is creative, resourceful, and whole.”
As a coach I am trained to listen, observe and to focus on your individual needs. I seek to support you in creating solutions and strategies which work for you, by empowering your inner wisdom as your guide. You are naturally creative and resourceful. My job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that you already have. I do not advise a certain lifestyle or way of doing things, but empower you to make those decisions for yourself.

Are there any areas where Life Coaching is not appropriate?
Yes! Life coaching is not counseling, and is not appropriate for drug addiction, or mental illness. I am not an expert in finance, law, or relationship counseling. I do not give professional advice in these areas, but I can help you to find the professional help you need.
How long does Life Coaching Take?
It depends on the client and the situation we’re working on together. Sometimes only one session is needed to clarify your direction so that you can move forward. I find that a minimum of a month is needed to establish a new framework for change. Three to six months is often a good amount of time to begin to see results. If we are working on longer term goals it may be necessary to work together for a longer amount of time. Usually in 3-6 months we will be able to explore and understand the issues, to clarify your goals, to expose and address unhelpful patterns of behavior and thinking, to develop strategies for moving forward, and to have done enough of that so that you have gained the ability and skills to keep growing after our sessions are finished. We will normally do 3 sessions per month, and if it is beneficial to continue beyond the 3-6 month period it may be possible to reduce the number of monthly sessions and still maintain your momentum and focus.
